Purpose of using the turbocharger:

The turbocharger in the DAF XF 105 is used indirectly to increase the power of the internal combustion engine. This is done by increasing the amount of air entering the cylinders at the right moment. Fuel can be supplied to the engine in any amount, the only problem is to supply a sufficiently large amount of oxygen necessary for the combustion process to take place. This is the purpose of using a turbocharger.

The principle of operation of the turbocharger:

The DAF XF 105 turbocharger is driven by the exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine, which pass through the turbine wheel and are exhausted further through the exhaust system. Through the shaft, the rotation of the turbine rotor is transmitted to the compressor rotor. This, in turn, compresses the air that flows through the intake and filter. The air can then be routed straight into the intake manifold. However, in most cars, especially in modern designs, an intercooler is used (you can find them here https://arcoore.com/kategoria-produktu/intercoolery/), in which the air heated after compression is cooled again before being introduced into the combustion chamber.
